WE WON THE MOST ENTHUSIATIC FLOAT AWARD!!!!! Yes, we did win an award after competing with all of the other floats. We came out ahead and won the "MOST ENTHUSIASTIC" FLOAT AWARD. This award was presented by Bo and Jim from 92.5 KZPS, two of Dallas radio's most well known personalities. After the parade the Mayor of McKinney Avenue suggested that we all go to Ben's Half Yard House to accept our award. But most of the float participants had to meet others at lower Greenville or Two Rows. The awards were not to be announced until 1:30 P.M. The Mayor of McKinney Avenue went to both Two Rows and then to Lower Greenville and he told everyone how we were going to win a prize. Most people thought he was being too enthusiatic about the possibility of winning a prize. But that is exactly what it took was the enthusiasm of everyone on the float. Chris (the Court Jester H.O.F.#47) Klinetob and his girlfriend Shannon did go to Ben's Half Yard House and they accepted the award for us. It was Chris Klinetob who suggested that we all jump up and down as we stopped in front of the judges stands. We all jumped in unison as if we had rehearsed it. What we all did have in common was the true party spirit of the parade. As the weeks went by and after the long hours several individuals put into the float such as the Mayor of Deep Ellum, Sean Kirkland staying up late to nail floorboards into our float and others that helped him including Kirsten Lover Girl Johnson that painted the Leprachaun murals onto the sides, we float riders were giving them a jumping hand and salute for their efforts. The judges were able to tell that we were not a part of a corporate sponsored float but hard working individuals that scrapped to put it all together. We the float riders of the MOST ENTHUSIASTIC" float for 1999 thank you judges! |
